The John E. Ferraro City Council Chambers was at full capacity on Thursday, December 4th, 20th, 2025.

On this truly historic night at Los Angeles City Hall, we proudly celebrated the official launch of FORGING LATINO POWER: THE POLITICS OF INCLUSION, BACKLASH, AND RESISTANCE by George L. Pla and David R Ayón.

Leaders from Los Angeles and beyond came together to share their insights and first-hand accounts of the remarkable journey of Latina/o empowerment and its ongoing impact on American politics.

The night began with inspiring opening remarks by LA Mayor Karen Bass, continued with a spirited discussion moderated by Julie Chávez Rodriguez, and concluded with a rousing call-and-response by none other than Dolores Huerta.

The audience left empowered and energized to continue the critical work that the leaders in FORGING LATINO POWER have begun.
